Of Crystal Clear Waters and Aquamarine

12:20 AM

Our 1st day in Coron was all about the little town and its local. We went to bed early to prepare ourselves in the next day itinerary.

With no expectations, we went to the port to start with our 1st Island tour. Our day consisted of going to Kayangan Lake, Banol Beach and Twin Peaks Lagoon.

On our way to Kayangan Lake, the still waters stole our breaths away. It was one of the best perfect, picturesque and beautiful creation of God that I witnessed myself. Going to the lake itself is no joke. You have to climb a hill to be able to go to the other side. And again, it was not something to complain about because the view while trekking paid off! The little island beside the lake is where the Tagbanuas live, so make sure that you do not put your trash anywhere. Save Mother Earth and respect the place! The water in the lake is brackish, mix of fresh and salt water so there's a little struggle in swimming.

Banol was our 2nd stop. Our tour guide and the captain/chef prepared our food and we had lunch there on a Nipa hut. The water in Banol Beach is very turquoise and the sand is super powdery white. It was a perfect place to rest after indulging ourselves on a hearty seafood lunch.

What's for lunch? Parrot Fish, Sea Weeds Salad, Grilled Liempo and a handful of Crabs. Yum!

On to the next destination, Twin Peaks Lagoon! They called it "Twin" because it is a lagoon that is separated by 2 wall of beautiful limestones! Its like entering a Paradise without having any idea on what's inside. The boat will stop at the outer lagoon and you have to swim to the entrance wherein you can choose on how you will get inside. 1st option: Swim shallow waters and don't let your head bang the limestone. The rock is 1 inch away from your face! 2nd option: There's a man made wooden ladder going up through the lime stones. We choose the 1st and we didn't get any scratch! Woah! Just like Kayangan Lake, the water here is also brackish. The aquamarine life in this are is quite healthy and the water is deep. If you're not a good swimmer I suggest you wear a life vests going there.
