Of Trekking: Mt. Tapyas and Mt. Maquiling
10:21 PMYou know when they say conquer the world? My cousins and I conquer the world, WISELY. So here goes our story.
Last year Independence Day, my cousins and I bangged a PHP 1,7000 worth of two way airfare to Busuanga Coron.
A little tip, always wait for seat sales so you don't have to splurge a lot in airfare and save it for the tour itself.
No thinking twice, Coron is the place to be! We already went to El Nido (last 2014) and Puerto Princesa (last 2012) so we decided to visit the last one in the leg.
40 minutes away from Manila, a Paradise full of accommodating and happy people. We felt like it was a meant to be trip before the hussle of 2015 starts. Outside the airport, we were welcomed by a lot of cows, horses and red mountains wherever you look. The moment I stepped in the Van I already had this feeling of "This is going to be a great adventure".
No exaggeration or anything but the feeling is inevitable.
Our 1st day consists of going to Mt. Tapyas and Mt. Maquiling Hot Spring Resort. We are practical travellers so we opted in to ride a tricycle going to these places, and were just 4 people. It was definitely a bumpy ride in a rough road without even a single post of electricty to give light.
Mt. Tapyas is a mountain with 700 steep steps. You need to have that energy and food to be able to reach the top. Obviously, the handrails and pathways going up was destroyed when typhoon Yolanda hit the little town. No worries because the beauty of the nature itself doesn't need any human touch or improvement. When you reach the peak, you'll see a full view of the town. Little, rustic, and calm surrounded by crystal clear waters, a Paradise on Earth, indeed.
After the long walk to the mountain, we rode the tricycle going to Mt. Maquiling. It was a 45 minutes drive away from the city. We went there at night time so we werent able to see the view of the whole place. The hot spring gave us relaxation after enduring a hike. It was a very peaceful moment. We just lay our bodies there and stayed for like 30 minutes and decided to go back to our hotel.
